x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x JOURNAL #3 – Utilizing the Frame/Rule of Thirds #3 Having a focal point in a photo not in the center of the image gives the photo a feel that doesn't seem so 'set-up'. I really like the first picture I have here, with the little boy chilling in the grass. This photo could have so easily been taken from a right angle, placing the boy in the center, aligned with the frame of the image. But the fact that it is not makes that image 10x better. I like that there is all that green grass shown in the picture, and at one corner you have this cute boy grinning. I also like the picture of the dandelion, it being set off to the side of the image allowed the photographer to capture the pieces flying off. Amazing.
I chose this photo particularly for its emphasis on light. Without the soft light coming in from behind the woman, the image wouldn't have the emotion it does. Just thinking about this image with light brightening up her face gives me a different feel. I like this photo ESPECIALLY for its use use of light as subject matter, for that is what the image is based on, light.
I chose this photo to represent light as subject matter greatly because of the shades of light. The sun shining directly onto that fruit gives it a sort of glistening look, it being the center focus in the photo makes this a key part to the image. At the same time the light is shining on this interesting-looking fruit, there is also shade and shadows and the blurred out leaf in the top right corner of the image, out of focus. Every aspect makes the picture seem all the more appealing and light as subject matter.
This photo caught my eye the moment I saw it. The light and the place where the man is standing is all too perfect. The balance of light and dark is so well complimented with the man standing directly in front of the setting sun. Him being completely dark gives him a silhouette effect, giving the photo its feel. The whole photo is even better with the utilization of reflection. The mans shadow and the dark reflection of the clouds. An absolutely amazing picture.
I chose this photo because this adorable little boy just caught my eye. This is a very clear photo, and his cute little outfit and stance completely refer to the title, it makes a lot of sense. No bigger reason in me chosing this photo than the simple fact that the whole thing is pretty odd. He's so young, what would his baby face know about politics and campaigns? He'd make a perfect billboard boy.
